Up Air raid shelters from WW2 and miners' estates in Bochum Slideshow

 Deutsch | English
Air raid shelters ("Bunker") and miners' estates.
Despite modern machineries, is still quite expensive to demolish the solid air raid shelters because of the thick concrete wall of more than 6 ft. so they are just left where they are. When Univerity Rd. was to be broadened instead of demolishing the air raid shelter the surrounding houses were pulled down to obtain the necessary space. - The houses of the former miner's estates today are well demanded although mostly Listed Buildings
Remark: This series is presented to you at the urging of an Elder English Gentleman from Lancing, Sussex, who suddenly found that these old 'buildings' were part of European history and thus should be presented to the world - see below. Everybody overhere though only sees ugly concrete boxes and would be happy if he could beam them to Lancing (beach green...).
